| Transportation Audits / Traffic Calming Studies
The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is committed to improving the quality of life in our neighborhoods and addressing traffic-related safety issues throughout the city. In this effort, DDOT has recently updated the traffic calming guidelines to incorporate a greater range of remedies for cut-through and speeding traffic. DDOT’s Transportation Audits utilize a variety of methods to improve safety, including traffic control devices, design measures, traffic calming measures, education and enforcement.
The following links should be useful for citizens who are interested in transportation audits. The first link outlines the policies and guidelines that govern DDOT’s and citizens’ collaborative approach to traffic calming, including the process through which a transportation audit can be requested. The second link provides studies that have been completed and/or implemented.
If you have any questions, please call DDOT's Transportation Policy & Planning Administration (TPPA) at 671-2730 during the business hours of 8:15 am to 4:45 pm, Monday through Friday, except District holidays.
